Hi David & Katie:
MPU 85 dealing with paperless was just excellent! Thanks a lot.
I do have a question however. I didn’t hear you address the legality of having only a scanned vertion of an important legal document as opposed to the original. Under your system I assume the original is shredded shortly after scanning. Do the courts, IRS, and the legal community generally accept and treat a scanned copy of the orginal the same as the original? Are there any situations in which you would keep the orginal paper version indefinitely?
Thanks and keep up the good work!

This was an intentional omission as we stay far, far away from anything resembling legal advice on the podcast. Requirements vary from place to place so we encourage people to consult their own authorities.
However, you do bring up an excellent point that there are many times you do need an original document.
I see that you linked to the technique for the Pomodoro Technique, but not to the specific timer that you use. Any suggestions?
Try this: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31472/pomodoro
From it you can get to the developer’s site.
Looks like he’s removed it from the App Store and I don’t see any other links on the developer’s web site. Last update was January 2010, so I think it’s abandon ware.
Hello,
Love your show; I’ve learned a lot. One comment on Workflows with Wendy Cherwinski. When she mentioned Pomodoro, Ms C. was talking about a Mac desktop app.
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31472/pomodoro
from this link you can get to the support site, provided by the developer (though info on the app is more accessible in the site who’s link I provided).
Keep up the great work.
Fun being a subscriber
This show has such a different format. You two are real pro’s and it makes it so much fun to be a subscriber.
Wendy was so cool and provided insight to a whole different world than we usually discuss. I never thought about the difference in writing for politicians pre- versus post- election. Of course those are different jobs when you think about it! Maybe I’m bias in that public speaking is a fairly new interest of mine but I thought this was a neat detour into a more creative realm of “workflows.” Thanks Wendy!
I do have a request though…
Please stop talking about Scriviner!!! and BBEdit while I’m at it! Haha. Aperture and the former will satisfy my tech hunger but it’s just not in the budget. Not all 3 anyways. I’m only teasing but I’d really like to join the club. I’ve been doing tons of research writing lately and let’s face it, there’s a tool for that.
Great show. Siracusa was interesting as well. I’m no gamer but I am starting to look at my iPad a bit differently! I’m newly self-employed and for me it’s easy to forget to take breaks.
See you next week and thank you hosts, guests and fellow subscribers for keeping this show awesome. I’m off to go buy scrivener and play video games!
It was the best workflow session ever for me! Your and Wendy’s best talents: to get the most of Mac without being too geeky. Thanks a lot! Presentation Zen is great but does it need to be listed twice in the show notes
