Tried listening to Back to Work on 5X5 for the new iTunes episodes per David’s suggestion. Episode 103 was painful to listen to. The podcast is about 90 minutes, and the first HOUR was discussion about the weather, girls, kids, comics, everything except iTunes. I’m going to fast forward through 104 and 105 to the good stuff, if there is any. Katie and David, PLEASE show Merlin and Dan how to do a proper podcast and not waste the listener’s time!
Craig Hockenberry was great! I love the CandyBar App by Panic! Changing icons is unnecessary, but I like to create alias’s on my desktop and replace the icons. My power user tip is to create a transparent .png at 512×512 so I can replace the “Alias” badge. This way I don’t get those little arrows! Man, it’s fun being a nerd.
Also, to ToddG…
I’m a huge Back to Work fan. I have tried to get my Dad to listen to it and he said they talked about their kids too much. I don’t really mind because I started listening to the show when I was stuck in a cubicle and Dan and Merlin helped me realize that my problems weren’t unique and that every knowledge worker faces unrealistic expectations. They really helped me identify the problem which was that I was working for the wrong company. So for that, I’m thankful and I’ve just stuck with them ever since.
In their defense, Dan and Merlin have a very difficult topic or thread to maintain. They have exhausted everything that relates to productivity as one may do after 100 or so episodes. David and Katie (in a sense) have it much easier because the topics are constantly evolving.
Regardless, it’s a good thing you trust David enough to give them another shot because episode 104 is pretty stacked with information and they get to the point quickly. It’s all about the meta data!
